What really pisses me off is that you can no longer load some libraries, even the 1.0 versions into Kontakt 6. I just get a message now that say "your version of Kontakt is too old to load this library". This didn't use to be the case.
So why not just load them into Kontakt 7? Well, because the "wrench" icon is removed and you can no longer edit the programs in depth. For instance something like Ethereal Earth instrument has some awesome presets in the 1.0 version that just need some of their effects removed to be awesome. Well, no luck.. can't do that any more. And those same presets don't exist in the v2.0 version and you can't edit the 1.0 version in Kontakt 7. Technically you could probably get the same exact sound by copying all the major parameters of the preset but that's not really all that enticing.
So yeah, this kind of shit really has put a spanner on any thoughts on spending money on NI stuff. The company just feels disconnected and like a slowly dying corporate giant that just doesn't realize it's dying. I used to look forward to updates and the new stuff from NI but that was like a decade ago. Now it's been relegated to "meh.." and I just stick with their old stuff.
Killing of brilliant stuff like Absynt, that sounds just as brilliant today as it ever did, (and is very CPU friendly even when run at high sampling rates!) is not a good look. Oh well..
