And what in particular do Phase Plant and Pigments excel in?I have all of them and strangely many people think Pigments, PP and Avenger sound meh.Only cpu-wise, though. Now that's actually PIGMENT 5 (FIVE) it blows Phase Plant out of the water.
Soundwise Phase Plant and Avenger shouldn't be compared to poor sound pigments.
For me Avenger is the best choice of a non emu softsynth, because my pc can handle cpu very well with Avenger, whereas Phase Plant is too heavy on cpu.
I think they do all sound fantastic and there is a cognition growing in me over the time, that people who claim that a synth is poor sounding, have
-a lack in synth programming capabilities and/or
-a lack in understanding that a synth excels in some areas very well and in other areas there are better options
Phase Plant is not heavy on the CPU. It might look like that resp. can get like that, when you play some presets, which are suboptimal programmed in my opinion and use too much (poly)-Fx or whatever. But if you make your own normal presets it's very tight. I made once a test with a 3-OSC, one filter preset and could run almost 500 instances on a medium-PC, 2 years ago.
Phase plant to me sounds very thin. Pigments sounds less thin and for the price is the much better overall package in my opinion but it also sounds kinda thin.
