I just realised that I joined this thread half--way through and never really answered the OP's questions. So here goes -
Needless to say, I love my car a lot more than anything else and I am going to love my next one even more.

I don't think I have. In my hardware days, I was all about reducing the number of synths I had to lug around to gigs and set-up. So every purchase was about how many existing devices it would allow me to get rid of. I've never seen synths as objects of desire or adoration. They have always just been very expensive tools that allowed me to do what I wanted to do. If I'm honest, I always kind of resented the amount of money I had to spend. When I started out as a teenager it was pretty much just as all this VST stuff kicked off, early 2000's like. Back then I remember religiously buying Future Music and Computer Music, and I'd just pour over all of the adverts and reviews, constantly wishing I had the cash for all this hardware. You know the drill. We've all been there.
Mine are mostly listed in my signature. Note that even though I currently own seven hardware synths, none of them rate a mention. Those in my sig are instruments that I love, because they allow me to sound so much better than I ever thought possible and I haven't had to sell my car to afford them all. I also love the computer that they all run on, which is about as close as I'll get to loving hardware, although I am growing fonder of my Lumi Keys every day.... what other synths out there are ... ahem... vital for me to check out???
Needless to say, I love my car a lot more than anything else and I am going to love my next one even more.
