Effects • Re: Image-line Edison

Have you actually used Edison, or are you thinking it's a good match for your workflow due to videos you've seen and things you've read?

Because in practice, it is way less intuitive and appealing to use than it is in theory and can be left in the past now that you can record straight to tracks in FL now.

No idea why anyone would want Edison as a VST to use in some other DAW.

Sounds like something someone who's never used Edison might think.
I've used it, that's why I wanted to buy it. Love the workflow of it because I'm not thinking of using it as a traditional record to audio track. My idea is to record samples in between chains of plugins and to use it for analysis (the way it renders waveforms is the best I've seen, also mid/side).
All of this with drag and drop functionality in and out of the plugin makes it incredibly useful. Really hope IL gives it a second chance.
It doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but if you want something quick and easy for sound design/resampling purposes, check out Bird's Rolling Sampler. It's basically an audio version of Ableton's Capture function. Stores whatever audio has played through it in a user defined buffer, and lets you drag and drop what you want straight into your DAW
Tried it! Great product, but it's not the same workflow as Edison. As you said I cant record on demand, drag and drop into it, etc. The waveform rendering is small also and not great for analysis.
If you have the FL VST you can drag audio from Rolling Sampler (running in Reason) into Edison…
