Actually I think the computer noise is now mostly solved. I had been using a guitar with passive pickups so I just tried using an active guitar with the same signal chain. The noise from my system was barely audible. This one's on me, lol.A Macbook will NOT resolve that issue. I really doubt it's a grounding issue, if that were the case, you'd have a nice detectable 60hz ground hum.
I assume you are using distortion, that always brings up the noise floor, and exposes any interference. EMI/RFI interference seems like your issue.
You may want look into ways to clean up your studio/computer's power.
Good luck,
Dirk
Unfortunately my active pickups (on two different guitars) pickup radio signals, so I may indeed get a Macbook anyway just so I can record my guitars somewhere else!
