I'm sorry to report that this is a fundamental limitation of LinnStrument's touch sensing technology, explained on the LinnStrument FAQ page, "Pre-Sales" tab, first FAQ, paragraph 3: "No more than 3 note pads are permitted in the same vertical column".
I'm sorry if you didn't see this. Most feel people that the limitations stated on the FAQ page are worth the advantages.
