And still, asking for improvements is not entering a rat race. It’s called growth. "Amazing" is relative, and it can get more amazing, that's for sure.
This forum has become increasingly uninteresting to me because what's happening isn't merely "asking for improvements".
It's:
  • Hyper-focusing on "what isn't possible" over "what is possible"
  • Downplaying that which is possible, or unique to Bitwig, as nerd stuff that no "real pro(ducer)" needs
  • Eventually just a bunch of whining about Bitwig not implementing the author's pet feature requests. (Once they do, the next pet feature request drops into place. There's no satisfaction to be reached.)
  • Ridiculous bad-faith theorising bordering on conspiracy theories. (e.g. "DAWproject is prep work for the eventual merger of S1 and Bitwig, eventually leading to a subscription model.")
Not every "request" is as silly as those, but the overall sentiment is unnecessarily negative. And it infects every single thread here that isn't a specific technical question, and sometimes even those.

It's boring.

But obviously, pointing this out clearly paints me as a die-hard Bitwig apologist and shill, hired by the company itself to distract from the struggling company's issues!

The Bitwig Discord looks much more healthy and productive, unfortunately I can't keep up with its chat form factor.
weird anti-growth-mindset
Here's a wild theory: Maybe Bitwig is running a sustainable business and are relatively happy with where they are. Not being the market leader doesn't mean you're not successful. Maybe they actually aren't interested in growing for the sake of growing. I'm not saying this is true, but it's a possibility.

While I'm at it let me extend a special LOL to the armchair market research efforts powered by Google Trends.
Unfortunately, this is just human nature in action. Never fully satisfied with what we have, always demanding more and better.
There’s this relentless dissatisfaction, if only Bitwig had this one feature… and yet, even when they actually do implement what everyone was clamoring for, there's barely a pause before the next feature request rolls in. The satisfaction bar just keeps moving further out of reach, ensuring a perpetual cycle of complaints.

And then the same people keep insisting they’re single-handedly keeping Bitwig afloat to support the company by purchasing upgrades as though it’s some act of generosity rather than pure self-interest. Nobody buys software upgrades out of the goodness of their heart. They do it because they want the features, or they’re snagging a deal. I’ve yet to see a single Bitwig user genuinely enjoys Bitwig saying , I buy upgrades purely to support this company, with no benefit to myself.
This kind of hypocrisy wrapped in entitlement is exhausting, and it’s clear no DAW, no matter how feature-packed or flexible, could ever satisfy this mindset.
