My pitch regarding DePalma's 1960s stuff:
The second time DeNiro acted for DePalma was in 'Hi, Mom' from 1970 which is generally considered the better of the two films.
All of this was DeNiro "before Scorsese", of course.
And Richard Hamilton may best be remembered for:
[Wikipedia] In 1968, Richard Hamilton appeared in a Brian De Palma film titled Greetings where he portrays a pop artist showing a "Blow Up" image. The film was Robert De Niro's first motion picture, and the first film in the United States to appeal an X rating.

Once again, it may just come down to whether one wants to see the best of a filmmaker's output, or, in this case, something that is radically different from his better known stuff. His association with the 1960s pop music scene continued as Hamilton became friends with Paul McCartney resulting in him producing the cover design and poster collage for the Beatles' White Album.
