I was listening to a podcast a while back about the establishment of the US as a state and its early years, and had never thought about this before, but it was mentioned in passing that the accent did of course evolve over time, but initially would have (allegedly..) been more like South Western English...so "Ooooar, where's me turnips Mr Lincoln Sir?".I used to think the word "me" wasn't used as a determiner in the USA - but this is the 2nd time I'm proven wrong:Is this a regional thing (e.g. South East USA)?“Never fight uphill, me boys!”
It doesn't seem to be limited to archaic usage.
